Thursday evening will feature a social and lecture by Dr. Phil Manning of Manchester, University entitled “Hunting Dinosaurs in the 21st Century”. There will be an all-day field trip on Friday to the Wissahickon Valley and Valley Forge National Park, giving you an impressive overview of the geology of the Philadelphia region. On Friday evening, at our annual Awards Banquet, Dr. John Madsen, Professor of Geology at the University of Delaware, will present his research in a keynote address entitled: Mapping the Bottom of the Delaware Bay: Sediments at the Forefront of Major Coastal Policy Decisions.

Saturday morning will feature workshops, presentations, and poster sessions at Wilmington Friends School, founded in 1748. Saturday afternoon will feature a trip to Newark, Delaware for tours of the Delaware Geological Survey, the magnificent collection of minerals at the Mineralogical Museum of Delaware, and a stop at Iron Hill Museum. And don’t forget to bring those cool geo-items for annual auction at the Social on Saturday evening.

Included with this announcement is the proposal form for workshops or other presentations. These will be held at Wilmington Friends School on Saturday morning, May 22nd. Specific workshops will be shared with members as proposals are received.

The conference will conclude with the annual business meeting and breakfast on Sunday morning.
